There is a misconception that many pets are in shelters because there is something wrong with them. This is not the case for many pets in shelters. Many are placed in shelters because of changes in human lives, i.e. moving or divorce. You can visit a shelter and get a wonderful pet that is happy and healthy!

3. Training isn't as hard

Welcoming a shelter pet into your home means you may be welcoming an animal that is already housebroken. This can save a lot of time and stress, on you, your pet and your home!

4. Adopt and... save

Many pets at the shelter have already gone through the standard shots and spay/neuter process, or it may be included in your adoption process. This means that you may not need to pay for these things out of pocket.
